$Welcome to our backyard bungalow...a space we lovingly refer to as Studio BC. This 600 sq ft home is completely separate from ours, private and comfortable. Friends that have stayed with us have shared that it's quiet, calm, and relaxing - just what you need while exploring St. Louis! In 2015, we gutted and began renovating Studio BC. We started hosting in Sept 2017. We are excited to invite you to join us for a long weekend, business trip, or staycation. We can't wait to meet you. :-) You'll enter Studio BC from our shared backyard, up 8 steps onto your private deck. From there, you'll see a large eat in kitchen with a banquette and comfy pillows and stocked with full size appliances, dishes, pots, pans, etc. The kitchen opens to a living room with two sofas, TV and small work space. Use our free wifi and Roku streaming device to catch up on your favorite shows. Off of the living room is a full bathroom with bathtub and shower. And, off of the living room is also a bedroom with two large closets, luggage racks and a full size bed. You can enjoy a coffee on your deck or some evening time in our backyard. We will make sure you are checked in and fully situated. During your stay, we are never more than a phone call or text message away. We want to make sure you're comfortable, but we also want to give you space to do your thing and enjoy the city. Just keep us posted on how things are going and what you need, and we will work to make sure you have a great time. We communicate through the Airbnb Message Platform, so please have access to the app or a computer / tablet during your stay. Historic Carondelet is one of the city's oldest neighborhoods and home to the first Kindergarten in the United States! We love being 10 - 15 minutes from: downtown / Busch Stadium, Missouri Botanical Gardens, and Forest Park (Zoo, Art Museum, Boat House, etc) and Barnes Jewish Hospital. We also love being mere minutes from Highway 55. And, we are blocks from Carondelet Park, Starbucks, Perennial Artisan Ales, Kitchen House Coffee, Stacked Burger Bar and several other restaurants and grocery stores. We love our neighborhood! Carondelet is also the oldest neighborhood in St. Louis. It was originally its own city and was annexed into St. Louis in 1870. Founded by French folks and later inhabited by many Germans, most of the modest homes were built by working class families between 1870 and 1930. It now boasts a very mixed population. Young, old, white, black, gay, straight, affluent, challenged. It has an amazing history, wonderful architecture and a growing sense of renaissance and renewal. It's come a long way since the interstate highways fractured the city and white flight took off toward the suburbs. There has been a recent increase in building permits and construction projects in the immediate area, as well as new legislation to combat the vacant building issue we have. Crime stats are down as well. We've come a long way but we still have a long way to go. Always be aware of your surroundings. If you're not comfortable in an urban setting, this listing may not be for you. The best way to get around is via car. We are a block away from several bus lines, but St. Louis is most easily accessible via car. If you're not renting one or driving one in, Uber, Lyft, and taxis are plentiful. Bringing kids? Let us know - we have pack and plays, books, toys, booster seats, etc available and are happy to loan those to you during your stay. Our property shares an alley with an auto body shop. They work on cars Monday through Friday from morning until 3 or 4 in the afternoon. You may hear some talking or noise from tools outside of the home from time to time. St Louis is an metropolitan city and we live in the heart of it. Please remove valuables from your vehicle, lock your vehicle and the home when leaving, and exercise relative caution. You might see a fully renovated home next door to a vacant home and across the street from one that's under construction...such is life in St. Louis. The patchwork of homes is diverse and many city blocks are still climbing their way out of the effects of redlining decades ago and the recession just a few years ago. Check out our photos to see a layout of the house. It's easier to see than describe!$
